presented financial status and board discussed the information.
Report on State Association Meeting:
John gave a great
presentation on the State Association Meeting in March. Subjects included the current budget
situation, pending legislation, “waters of the state” and MDE sediment issues, Anne
Hairston-Strang’s appointment as Associate Director
of the Forest Service, a good presentation on forestry at APG and a good
presentation on tree diseases. But the
biggest news was that Gabrielle received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her
25 years of service to the NRCC.

Cecil/State Big Tree Program Update:
John recommended delisting the White Mulberry at NE Methodist Church Cemetery due to damage and the tree condition. The Board agreed.
John is working with
Ron is still trying to get a contact on the Dawn Redwood off of Rt 276.
Cecil has received an application for NRCC. It looks like an outstanding application. Gabrielle will contact her for an interview for our next meeting on Tuesday, May 2nd.
There are over 20 student applications so far for NRCC.
Gabrielle will try to get an article in the papers periodically.
Kathie may have a relative interested in NRCC.

Update:
Ron will take off the BYB advertisement. He also posted the accomplishment report for 2016. He would like to post more of them.
Ron went over how the Cecil County Big Tree Champion List displays the pictures and the Board chose which format they wanted. He would also like to add more information on the Arboretum.
Michael will send Ron some Insect/Disease brochures.
New Business:
The
John brought some
old display stuff for use or storage at Black Hill.
John went over
some information on bee habitat problems and the new endangered listing for one
species.
Gabrielle reported
that she talked to Danny Davis, longtime
Kathie said that
the Cecil College Horticulture Club Seminar on Native Species is on Friday,
April 28th at 6 pm at
Michael reported
that even though some trees look healthy, many were damaged by the icestorm.
Tom reported that
the Backyard Buffers giveaway days will be Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April
15.
Note the next
meeting will be on Tuesday, May 2nd. If anyone can arrive at 4 or 5 o’clock to
help pack seedlings for the Garden Show, it will be appreciated. We will have seedling packing, interview
