Treasurer’s Report:

Submitted by Tom Frederick

Current expenses and available funds were discussed by the board members.

St. Mary Anne’s Garden Show Report:

The Board had a display at the Garden Show on May 5th and 6th.  The event was pretty well attended. Friday morning it poured down rain, but Friday evening and Saturday were decent weather. White pine seedlings were handed out.

Dupont-Wright Critical Area Timber Harvest Plan Review:

The Board reviewed the Dupont-Wright Critical Area Timber Harvest Plan.  Tom presented the Department of Natural Resources review of the Plan.  The Board voted 5-0 to recommend approval of the Plan to the County.  Tom will send the appropriate notifications to other agencies.

Cecil/State Big Tree Program Update:

Michael, Dori and Kathie measured several trees in Elk Neck State Park.  They will submit paperwork and photos.

John, Dori and Kathie will be measuring trees on the mid-shore area of the eastern shore.

John has not received any response from the addresses that Ron obtained of possible Big Tree locations in the NW section of the County.

Tom received nothing back from a nomination form he sent out to a landowner near Chesapeake City.

Camp Hickory Update:

There are at least 40 student applications so far for NRCC.

Dawn received another application for Cecil County (but no letters of recommendation).  Gabrielle invited the student to the meeting but heard nothing back.  She will try to contact him again and set up an interview time.  However there is a maximum of 42 students for Camp.  The application and Board approval need to be completed before a spot is reserved.

Secretary of DNR Mark Belton and State Forester Don Van Hassent will visit Camp.  Outdoors Maryland will also be filming a show that will air on PBS.

New Business:

Kathie and John reported that Doris Behnke is working with Elk Neck State Park to install a tree id trail at the Park.

John went out to help on the Wildlife Habitat Council’s tree id trail and it was completed.  Sarel Cousins will handle the Grant paperwork.

The Board decided to not have a meeting in July, unless there is a Timber Harvest Plan review.
