Treasurer’s Report:

 

Submitted by Tom Frederick.  The Board discussed financial status.

 

 

Cecil/State Big Tree Program Update:

 

John and Tom measured two trees in Perryville.  One is a state champion green ash and the other is a county champion European linden.  The green ash is 8 points off the national champion.

 

Kathie and John photographed several trees in Harford Co.  John gave a photo presentation of the more unique/notable trees measured in the recent past.

 

Dori and John will be measuring a new nomination in Cecil County.

 

The State Big Tree Program was fully funded for next year.

 

Forest Retention Area Timber Harvest Plan Review:

 

Tom presented a FRA THP on the Roark Property.  The Board voted to approve the Plan 6-0.  Tom will send out the necessary paperwork.

 

Website Update:

 

Ron updated the website with primarily Big Tree information.

 

Gabrielle gave some pictures of the 2017 NRCC to Ron to put on the website.

 

2017 NRCC Report:

 

Gabrielle gave a report including a photo presentation on the 2017 NRCC.  The photos concentrated on the 2 Cecil students.  The Board enjoyed seeing the photos.

 

New Business:

 

Ron will try to bring some germinated wye oak descendent acorns next month from the tree in his yard.

 

Michael attended the Licensed Tree Expert continuing education program in Howard County given by DNR.  Some good safety information was presented.

 

The Board voted to fund the purchase of 2500 White Pine seedlings to give out again this year.

 

Gabrielle reported that the State Association meeting will be on November 4.  The meeting will be at Arlington Echo this year.  Part of the meeting will be honoring Steve Resh, Allegany College on his retirement and great contribution to NRCC.
