Cecil/State Big Tree Program Update:

38 trees will need to be re-measured in Cecil County in 2018.  John submitted a list of the trees and Gabrielle, Ron, Dori and Kathie divided up the list to start making landowner contacts.

John went over the 2017 Cecil County Big Tree Report.

John went over the draft 2017 State Big Tree Program report.  He also went over photos of some of the many trees measured in December, mainly at John Hopkins campus in Baltimore and Oakdale Mansion in Howard County.

Website Update:

Ron added links for Licensed Tree Expert information and information on Spotted Lanternfly.  He also corrected a White Pine entry on the County Big Tree list.

Again Ron is looking for ideas and information to put on the website.

Poster Contest Planning:

John and others assisted to send out poster contest announcements to each elementary school.  Posters are due to Black Hill on February 2nd.  If any are received, the Board will need to choose winners at the February meeting or appoint a sub-committee to choose, if there is no February meeting.  Winning posters must be in Anne Gilbert’s possession by February 21st.

New Business:

John reported that Fair Hill NRMA is working on a MUCFC grant for Tree ID signs.

The State Association meeting will be on Saturday, March 3rd.

A meeting in February will not be held unless a Timber Harvest Plan needs to be reviewed.

The Board reviewed the draft 2017 County accomplishment report.

Gabrielle reported that Kevin Harris is the new MEL Fellow grant person to help with NRCC advertisements.  There are also a few applications that have been submitted from other counties.
