St. Mary Anne’s Garden Show Report:

The Board had a display set up on Friday May 3rd and Saturday June 4th.  Setup day was on Thursday.  The event was well attended and white pine seedlings were given out.  It was suggested to try to use the electronic tree ID board next year, even if the weather may be inclement.  It draws more people to the table.  Gabrielle, Ron, Dori, Kathie, Bryan Lightner and Tom spent time manning the display.

NRCC Update:

Gabrielle reported the NRCC is full with 42 students.  Cecil has 3 students.  Gabrielle will contact two of them to remind them to send in the student fee.  The Board sent in the funds for 3 students.  A former camp student will also be attending as staff assistant.

Update on Big Tree Program:

John had a busy May for measuring trees.  He measured trees in Cecil County, Harford County and Baltimore City.  He showed pictures of these trips.

Website Update:

Ron added last month’s minutes.

Some Big Tree champion pictures still need to be sent to Ron.

New Business:

John reported that the Forest Legacy Program (US Forest Service) is in the process of evaluating and making an offer on his property off of Old Elk Neck Road.  The Program provides funding to landowners of accepted properties to purchase development rights.

As the normal meeting day for July would be the eve of the July 4th holiday, it was suggested that unless some urgent business occurs and needs to be discussed or voted upon, the July meeting could be cancelled.  All present members agreed.
