Attendees:

Ron Anderson             Kathie Jarmon

John Bennett               Tom Frederick

Treasurer’s Report:

Board members in attendance discussed available funds and future financial needs.

Update on Big Tree Program:

Gabrielle, John, Dori and Kathie measured/remeasured 7 trees on 1-19-0.

Kathie also has the State Champion Black Oak on her property!!!  Congratulations!

John assisted measuring trees in Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties on 1-10-20.

Also trees were measured in Dorchester, Montgomery and Queen Anne’s counties by local volunteers.

John presented pictures of many of the trees measured in January.  Also he went over the statewide remeasurement list after some Counties have cut the number due to the new remeasurement guidelines.

Natural Resources Career Conference (NRCC) Update:

So far 12 students have been accepted statewide.  Slightly lower than at this time last year.  We need to get a thank you letter/report to the Elkton VFW for last year’s students.

Website Update:

Ron added last month’s minutes and this month’s agenda.

He also checked the NRCC links on our website are working properly and correct.

Ron would like more information on the “Completed Projects” section.

New Business:

John has been invited to attend the “Cabin Fever” Event in Elkton again this year.  He will need to get the display materials he developed last year.  Anyone who can attend, just let John know.

Tom gave an update on the ENSP Salvage Harvest.  There are some Bald Eagle nests in the area and DNR is working the USFWS (US Fish and Wildlife Service) to determine the impacts on the harvest.

Tom also went over a complaint inspection on the Yoder Forest Retention Area Timber Harvest Plan.  Cecil County requested the inspection because of an adjacent landowner complaint.  There was a previous violation on the property that caused the property to be classified as Forest Retention Area and prior to the Board review.  The area harvested since the approval of the FRA THP has complied with the Plan.
